An FBI agent sent to rural Virginia to track an illegal truck ring winds up killing his informant, with whom he's been having an affair. After sealing the case, he's promoted and sent elsewhere, but the woman's death continues to haunt him in the form of a suspicions lawman and his own sense of guilt.
